The Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applicants for a position of Associate Director for Instructional & Professional Development in Inclusive Teaching to support the CATE’s mission to engage all members of the UIC community who have a teaching role, including faculty, teaching assistants, and postdoctoral scholars, in professional development opportunities that promote instructional innovation and inclusion in the classroom.

Reporting to the CATE Executive Director, the Associate Director will advance professional development opportunities for UIC instructors by designing and deploying online resources and implementing programming such as workshops and webinars to support adoption of inclusive and accessible teaching practices and a culturally relevant curriculum that together promote equitable student outcomes. Responsibilities include consultations with individual instructors and facilitation of professional learning programs that leverage relevant research and institutional data to engage groups of instructors in innovative instructional improvement efforts.  Responsibilities of the Associate Director also involve collaborating with CATE staff and other campus units to support dissemination of educational resources designed to mitigate barriers to inclusive learning environments and transform the classroom climate and academic culture in ways that better serve the lived experiences and reflect the social identities of UIC’s diverse student body. In addition, the Associate Director will interface with UIC students and leadership of student-facing campus organizations to ensure UIC student voice is reflected in CATE resource and program development.

This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment, with an anticipated start date of December 1, 2021. Salary range is from $75,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.
