Meetings & Events

Annual Meeting -- The annual SABER meeting his historically taken place over three days in July at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and attracts almost 500 (and growing) biology education researchers and practitioners from North America and beyond. The meeting includes invited speakers, poster sessions, talks, vendor demonstrations, and networking opportunities like special interest group meetings, roundtables, and a banquet. Pre-conference workshops offer additional learning opportunities.

Regional Meetings -- Discover and connect with local and regional biology education researchers and practitioners at our regional meetings. Share research, insights, and network to advance postsecondary biology education. If you are interested in hosting a regional meeting at your institution, please contact a member of the SABER Executive Committee.

Early Career & Trainee Events -- The Discipline-Based Education Research - Scholars in Training (DBER-SiT) Committee hosts several annual virtual panels and events for early career biology education researchers.

PEER Events -- The Persons Excluded due to Ethnicity or Race (PEER) Committee hosts mentoring and writing groups. 

Professional Development in Evidence-Based Teaching Seminar Series -- professional development seminars that connect the Biology Education Research (BER) findings with the mission of SABER to improve post-secondary biology education. Live seminars are available to the public. 

Biology Education Research Seminar (BERS) Series -- SABER has been proud to sponsor this seminar series that invites speakers in biology education research and the broader discipline-based education research field. Live seminars are available to the public. SABER members have access to the seminar recording archive.

Past Conferences -- Visit this page if you would like to reference what has been presented at past SABER meetings. The page currently houses archives from the 2019 and 2020 meeting, with archives of older meetings forthcoming.
