Abstract submission will be open February 9-23, 2026, for both virtual and in-person submissions.

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.

2026 SABER Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts

Full Call for Abstracts

Changes this year:

  • Virtual sessions: The SABER 2026 conference is being planned as an in-person event, with an additional day dedicated to virtual presentations (long talks, short talks and poster presentations only). All abstract submissions will be reviewed using the same rubric and review process. The authorship and presenter policies described below will apply across in-person and virtual sessions, as our goal is to increase opportunities for members to present. During the submission process, presenters will select whether they intend to present in person or virtually. In-person presenters (short talks, posters, roundtables) who later determine that they cannot attend in person, can contact the conference committee to switch to virtual.

  • Consistent with previous years, individuals can only be an author on three unique in-person short talk abstract submissions (ANY author position). In order to expand opportunities for virtual presentations, an individual can be a collaborating author on a fourth unique virtual short talk abstract submission.

  • This year, workshop submissions will be uploaded to CMT text boxes directly, rather than in PDFs uploaded to CMT.

2026 Abstract Mentorship Program

The SABER Abstract and Mentoring Committees are organizing an opportunity for individuals to receive feedback on their short talk abstracts for the 2026 annual meeting. Participants in this program will be assigned an abstract mentor who will review their abstract and provide feedback on ways to strengthen their submission.

If you would like to participate in this program and receive feedback on your abstract, please sign up via this form as soon as possible: https://forms.gle/27jFYVpKbYs7XxmP8After you sign up, you will be connected via email to your abstract mentor. Sign-up for this program will end on Thursday, February 19, to allow abstract mentors sufficient time to provide feedback prior to the annual meeting abstract submission deadline on February 23.

Questions? Please reach out to the Abstract Committee Chair, Claire Meaders (cmeaders@ucsd.edu), or Mentoring Committee Co-Chairs, Angela Kaczowka (akaczowka@arizona.edu) or Keenan Noyes (noyeskee@msu.edu).
