    The Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Teacher Education and Certification at Missouri University of Science & Technology (Missouri S&T) are pleased to invite applications for a shared tenured / tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. This novel position will establish a new model for collaborative education research and teacher preparation in the area of Education in the Biological Sciences. Opportunities exist to engage with the Kummer Center for STEM Education, the Ozark Biomedical Initiative, and the Ozark Research Field Station. The position begins in August 2023. Our new colleague will be involved in undergraduate and graduate education, conduct internationally recognized and externally funded education research, and participate in service to the university and profession. The faculty member will teach biology courses, offer specialized courses in science teaching methods, and supervise student teachers in secondary classrooms. 

    Qualifications
    The successful candidate will be an engaging, innovative teacher who connects evidence-based practice with real world application for diverse student populations. Minimum qualifications of the successful candidate include an earned doctorate in education or a biology field, ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students in biology, a record of writing and research accomplishment, middle and/or secondary teaching methods, supervising student teachers in the field, a commitment to excellence in teaching and teacher development, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a teaching certification, a history of participation in multi-investigator and multi-disciplinary teams, experience teaching online courses, and engagement in K-12 teacher professional development.

    Founded in 1870 as the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, Missouri S&T is a STEM-focused research university and part of the four-campus University of Missouri System.
