Responsibilities
The Department of Biology at Mercer University seeks two Visiting Lecturers for two years starting in August 2023. The department is looking for applicants to teach a 1st year introductory biology course for majors (topics include the chemistry of life, heredity, cell, and molecular biology), as well as a genetics course. Strong candidates with a different specialty will also be considered. Responsibilities include teaching six to seven courses (27 hours) per academic year at the undergraduate level. It is expected that only one or two course preps that involve weekly classroom and lab contact will be required each semester. Additionally departmental service that relates to course management will be required.
Qualifications
An earned M.S. in Biological Science or related field is a minimum qualification. PhD or ABD candidates (firm completion date before August 1, 2023) with an emphasis in genetics/cellular/molecular biology are strongly preferred. Those with teaching experience in the context of a liberal arts college, especially with innovative pedagogy experience, will have a unique advantage.
