    We have an open position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology (with a desired emphasis in applied genetics and/or genomics )  at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.  Our department offers undergraduate degrees (BS and BA) in Biology, and we have a strong interest in discipline based educational research as well as using course-based research experiences (CURE's) in our associated lab courses.  The advertisement is described below, and more information can be found at this link: https://txwes.peopleadmin.com/postings/5395


    The Department of Biology at Texas Wesleyan University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology.  This is a full-time appointment beginning in August 2024.  

    • Position Description: Primary teaching responsibilities (15 contact hours/semester) include teaching the lecture and laboratory section(s) for: an upper-level course in Molecular Genetics; Introductory Biology II;  and a general education science course.  Our department values undergraduate research and mentoring and the candidate will contribute to a collaborative research methods courses for undergraduate biology majors based on currency in the field of genetics and bioinformatics. Additional requirements include advising students, pursuing scholarship in the field (teaching or research based) and service to the University community.
    • Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Teaching experience is also required and training or experience in current active learning techniques and best practices expected. Candidates who have college-level teaching and post-doctoral research experience are preferred.
    • Department: The Department of Biology at Texas Wesleyan University provides undergraduate degree programs in Biology, including both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees.  We offer student-focused courses to support Biology majors, pre-health majors, and Biology/Secondary Education majors, as well as general education science courses to support the university.  Laboratory facilities include modern equipment for cell and molecular applications (standard and qPCR thermocyclers; Oxford Nanopore MinION sequencing units; cell culture incubator and laminar flow hood, plate reader, fluorescent microscope) that are utilized in both classroom and research applications.

    Texas Wesleyan University, founded in 1890 and located in Fort Worth, Texas, is a United Methodist institution with a tradition of integrating the liberal arts and sciences with professional and career preparation at the undergraduate level and in selected graduate areas. Total enrollment is over 2,700 students.
