    General Statement of Duties:
    The Biology Department of Westfield State University seeks talented applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Biotechnology/Medical Microbiology beginning September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be a broadly trained microbiologist with experience in biotechnology and have a record of outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level. Duties will include teaching Medical Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Introductory Biology courses, as well as advising undergraduate biology students, including those in the Biotechnology Concentration. The candidate is also expected to lead research involving undergraduate students. Candidates should have the ability to work in a collegial environment and participate in service (committee work, etc.) in the department and university.


    Requirements:

    Required Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline, with a focus on microbiology and biotechnology. ABD completed before September 1, 2024, will be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience teaching college-level Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Introductory Biology courses

    Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
