Hotel

The 2026 conference hotel will again be the Irvine Marriott (18000 Von Karman Ave, Irvine, CA 92612). A room block of discounted rooms ($179/night) has been set up for Friday, January 15th and Saturday, January 16th. Reservations can be made using the link on this page. Guests will be able to book discounted rooms as part of the hotel block until all rooms have been reserved or December 28, 2026, whichever comes first.

Reserve a room though the SABER West Hotel Block.

If the block is full prior to December 28th, please reach out to Rachael Barry at rmbarry@uci.edu. I will see if we are able to add any additional rooms to the block (this is not guaranteed).
Hotel Parking

Guests reserving rooms through the hotel block will have discounted self-parking ($35 per night).

Extended Stays

The reservations link will only allow you to book a room for January 15th and/or January 16th. For those wishing to extend their stay before or after the conference block days, please reach out to Rachael Barry (rmbarry@uci.edu) via email AFTER booking your stay through the block. Please include the name used for your reservation as well as the confirmation number. We cannot guarantee that the hotel will be able to discount the rate on additional nights.

Other Hotel Options

The conference itself will take place on the UC Irvine campus so you are free to stay at any hotel. But we will have shuttle service to/from campus only at this hotel.

Flights

We recommend that you fly into John Wayne Airport (less than 5 miles to UC Irvine).

Getting to UCI:

Conference Shuttle (Irvine Marriott to UCI Parking Lot 7)

Conference shuttle timing will be posted closer to the conference.

Driving and Parking

The meeting will take place in the Anteater Learning Pavilion.   Parking will be nearby in lot 7 (search "UCI lot 7" on google maps for driving directions). All cars must have a valid parking permit at all times. Once you arrive in Lot 7, there are "Pay-by-Plate" signs with information about paying for parking using your phone. This lot does not typically fill on weekends. Should you have issues finding parking in Lot 7, the Mesa Parking Structure is nearby and also features the "Pay-by-Plate" system and a permit dispenser for visitors.

University of California faculty from other campuses may be eligible to use the UC parking reciprocity system. More information on this program can be found here.

Childcare Grant:

For those needing assistance with childcare, SABER West is offering $200 childcare grants on a first-come, first-serve basis. All expenses will require formal documentation (e.g. airline ticket receipt, daycare receipt, etc) and funds will be provided after the conference.

Examples of acceptable expenses include (but are not limited to): cost of a babysitter either at home or in Irvine or non-car transportation to the meeting for a caregiver (flights, trains, etc). For any caregiver accompanying the attendee to the conference, they are welcome to eat the conference meals for free, please just make us aware this will be happening in advance.

To apply for the childcare grant, please complete the following form. You will be notified when abstract submission and registration opens as to whether you have received access to these funds. Once notified, you will need to register for the conference within 1 week or the funds will be made available to another participant.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Wilton (mikewilton@ucsb.edu).
