Augusta University Biology Assistant Professor Positions Non-Tenure Track

    The College of Science and Mathematics, Biological Sciences department at Augusta University (AU), responding to enrollment growth in recent years, is actively seeking multiple candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, anticipating beginning in the Spring or Fall 2025. Primary duties include teaching AU students on topics in Biological Sciences courses such as Principles of Biology, Environmental Biology, Zoology, Botany, Ecology and/ or Anatomy & Physiology. These positions also include a service and research component to strengthen our undergraduate programs. These positions are not considered to be on tenure track.

    Responsibilities

    Teaching- 80%

    Teaching & Coordinating Biology courses as assigned.

    Research- 10%

    Research and other Scholarly activities in the field to involve undergraduate science majors.

    Service- 10%

    Perform service on committees and other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    A Ph.D. or similar terminal degree in a discipline of Biological Science or closely related field and have the expertise to teach courses such as Principles of Biology, Environmental Biology, and/ or Anatomy & Physiology.

    Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member 

    Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

    -   Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

    -    Evidence of ability as a teacher;

    -    Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

    -    Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

    -    Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience teaching Biology at the undergraduate/college level and coordinating courses and instructional laboratories.
