    The Ohio State University College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the faculty position of Director of the Center for Life Sciences Education (CLSE). The CLSE Director coordinates the teaching of introductory biology courses and provides advising and student services for the biology major (the largest STEM major at Ohio State). The CLSE Director provides leadership and oversight for biology courses and curricula; biology major undergraduate advising, student services and assessment; teaching assistant and faculty recruitment and training for CLSE; coordinates and participates in biology education research in CLSE and/or biology research; works with divisional Dean, life sciences department chairs, student services and retention efforts; collaborates with Arts and Sciences Advising and Academic Services, Arts and Sciences Curriculum Office, Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning, University Registrar, Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, Office of Admissions, Honors and Scholars, and other Ohio State offices.

    Qualifications:

    We seek an inspiring Director who will provide strong leadership for an outstanding team of innovative educators in coordinating CLSE activities and overseeing its budget. This individual will lead the CLSE in scholarly research in biology education, joining ongoing STEM education research initiatives, and may have discipline-specific research in one of the four core departments as well. Applicants must have a PhD in a life-sciences related field The successful candidate will have evidence of advancing inclusiveness and diversity in teaching and/or administration, research, outreach, and engagement and will be expected to engage in broader college and university DEI initiatives. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
