    Description: Engaging students in active investigation has long been shown to be a successful undergraduate laboratory instruction technique. Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) offer an investigative and inquiry-based teaching technique to entire classes of students with diverse learning styles and background and have a significant positive impact on emotion, sense of project ownership, and scientific identity. The graduate student will be involved in assessing short- and long-term impacts of CUREs on student metrics. The student may be working with one or more of the following, as is appropriate to the student’s research and interests: Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center (PAROC) facility, Outreach Council and STEM Outreach program, The Nature Conservancy’s Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, USD253, Native Lands Restoration Collaborative, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, or Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

    Qualifications: BS in biology or related field, or BSE in education with strong background in STEM. Teaching experience preferred.
