Join an Engaging Community to Take a Scientific Approach Towards Teaching

Join an online learning community to learn the fundamental concepts of biology education research when you enroll in the Getting Started in Biology Education Research webinar series, brought to you by a partnership of ASM and the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER).

In this 7-part webinar series, you’ll engage in weekly discussions - led by active scholars and editors from Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education - that will help you be better prepared to create a culture of learning for growth & change in teaching and learning. You will learn about these topics in biology education research:

  • Forming a research question for a study of teaching and learning.
  • Methods and study design, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods of data collection and analysis
  • Developing assessment tools to investigate student learning
  • Preparing your teaching scholarship for biology education research journals, including IRBs and ethics

Participants also have an opportunity to enroll in a special in-person pre-conference workshop at the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators on Nov. 15, 2024 in Pittsburgh, Penn. (additional conference registration fee required). Here, you will engage in skill-building and networking activities to further develop your biology education research project.
